Locations: Wyndham Cultural Centre, Encore Events Centre & Wyndham City Civic Centre (This role is required to work across multiple locations throughout the Wyndham Municipality)

About the role
As a member of the Cultural Venues team, this position requires you to provide outstanding customer service including front of house services to patrons attending theatre events and programs across Council’s Cultural Venues.

The Theatre Officer position will provide effective supervisor of Theatre Support staff during their shift and works closely with the Box Office Supervisor to ensure we provide a positive experience for every patron from when they walk into the venue until they leave.

What your day will look like:

  • Delivering exception customer service for Cultural Venues patrons
  • Providing exception customer service and meaningful direction of supervision to box office, front of house, ushers and kiosk staff
  • Assist hirers, producers, theatre companies, artists, performers and the programming team by providing a high level of support during events
  • Ensure accurate and responsible handling of sales generated by ticketing and kiosk services, including daily reporting and end of day reconciliation
  • Act as Chef Fire Warden in the event of an emergency evacuation of the venue
  • Supervise event-specific tasks as required including set up and pack down of tables, chairs, satellite bars or foyer furniture           
  • Provide administrative assistance when required
  • Carry out other duties commensurate with skills and abilities as deemed reasonable and appropriate to the role as directed from time to time
  • Ensure the venue is always tidy and presentable, including its surrounding


What you will bring:

  • Proven experience of high-level customer service, administration and supervision of staff in Arts Venue or Hospitality environment (highly desirable)
  • Proven experience in a fast-paced Customer Service role (highly desirable)
  • Previous experience in an Arts Venue or Hospitality environment (highly desirable)
  • Previous experience training team members (desirable)
  • Demonstrated experience in balancing EFTPOS machines and end of day reconciliation of floats and sales
  • Demonstrated experience working with stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience with professional venue ticketing software
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate (required)
  • Current First Aid Certificate (desirable)
  • Working with Children’s Check (desirable)


Work Environment & Conditions:

  • The role involves standing for extended periods and light to moderate lifting
  • Work is conducted in a dynamic theatre environment with varying shift times
  • The position requires adherence to workplace safety and customer service protocols
