A bit about the role

As the Team Leader Environment, you will guide and manage a team of six while overseeing the development of strategies, policies and plans that support the protection and enhancement of Wyndham City Council’s natural environment.

 

You will leverage your previous experience and connections to work with partner organisations to deliver programs and projects that lead to improved environmental outcomes for the city as well as managing the assessment and operations of the Site Environmental Management Plan (SEMP) process and various land management and environmental education programs.

 

What you’ll deliver

  • Specialist internal and external advice in relation to the management, protection and enhancement of the City’s natural environment
  • Guidance and support to the Environment team in assessing planning applications relating to the environment
  • Identification of funding opportunities and grant applications 

 

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Policy or related field
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop employees
  • Ability to scope projects, set objectives and develop a work plan for programs and projects
  • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement at both a government and community level
  • Demonstrated experience in managing budgets, including development of successful business cases
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly developed organisational and time management skills
