The Program Officer - Employment Pathways supports the end-to-end facilitation and delivery of internal employment pathway programs at Council. Working alongside the Program Advisor - Employment Pathways, you’ll provide support and guidance to students, educational institutions and community members, while ensuring compliance with all required policies and checks.

You will collaborate with Council’s internal host departments to create meaningful placement opportunities for students and community members, supporting best practice management and delivering positive, hands-on experiences for participants. In addition, you’ll be responsible for managing internal systems and reporting, ensuring accurate data management, collection, and program evaluation.

This is a job share opportunity with an experienced Council officer who is moving to part time hours and will provide a comprehensive hand-over and upskilling.

What your day will look like

  • Oversee the full delivery process of Employment Pathway programs, including Secondary School work experience programs, Tertiary and Work Integrated Learning placements, Traineeships, Apprenticeships, the Graduate Program, and other pathway programs for community members.

  • Handle enquiries from students and community members while promoting available pathway opportunities.

  • Assess student applications and provide support to internal departments hosting placements, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, managing police checks, candidate communication, and post-placement evaluations.

  • Maintain program administration and track data for ongoing evaluation and reporting.

  • Co-ordinate and support events that are a part of the program delivery.

What you will bring

  • Degree or diploma course in a field relevant to employment pathways, with little or no relevant work experience, or less formal qualifications but with relevant work skills or experience in management of employment pathway programs.

  • Experience providing administrative support, including tasks like invoicing, scheduling, and logistics.

  • Knowledge of employment pathway programs, student placements, and related legislative frameworks.

  • An understanding of fair and equitable practices with the ability to communicate them effectively.

  • Strong attention to detail and an organised, methodical approach to work.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders throughout program delivery and evaluation.

  • A valid Working with Children Check.

If you progress past the interview stage, you may be required to complete pre-employment screening, which may include police checks, a medical, qualification verification, and an Australian work rights check.
