Location: This role may be required to work across multiple locations throughout the Wyndham Municipality

 


 

About the role
In this role you’ll lead a team of technical staff, ensuring productions and events run smoothly, safely, and to a consistently high standard. You’ll work closely with hirers, artists, producers, theatre companies and event organisers to guide them through technical requirements and deliver exceptional audience experiences. Your expertise across lighting, sound, staging, AV, streaming and fly systems will support both day-to-day operations and long-term planning. You’ll also oversee venue operations, including box office and customer service, while managing budgets, maintenance, OHS procedures, and contractor coordination to keep our assets performance ready. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll foster teamwork, drive innovation, and create a positive and safe workplace culture.


 

What your day will look like

  • Lead and supervise technical staff, fostering teamwork and professional growth.

  • Liaise with hirers, artists, producers and theatre companies to deliver high-quality productions and events.

  • Provide hands-on technical expertise in lighting, sound, AV, staging, streaming and fly systems.

  • Oversee venue operations including box office, ticketing, customer service and compliance.

  • Manage budgets, maintenance schedules, contractors and OHS procedures to keep venues safe and performance ready.

 

What you will bring

  • Degree or diploma in Technical Theatre (or equivalent experience).

  • Strong background in backstage/technical operations within theatre, events, or live production.

  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience in a technical environment.

  • Proficiency across lighting, sound, AV, staging, streaming and rigging systems.

  • Strong organisational, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • A Working with Children Check (essential); First Aid, Rigging and EWP licences (desirable).
