  • Build a high-performing team culture committed to delivering excellent outcomes for our community.

This role requires strong technical planning expertise, a leadership mindset, and the ability to balance competing priorities in one of Australia’s fastest growing municipalities.

  • Assessing planning permit applications and preparing high-quality reports and recommendations.

  • Providing strategic advice on planning policy, legislation and development matters.

  • Negotiating with developers, objectors and referral authorities to deliver fair, transparent and balanced outcomes.

  • Driving continuous improvement across planning processes, systems and service delivery.

  • Collaborating with colleagues across Council to align planning outcomes with broader community goals.

What you will bring

  • Degree or Diploma in Town Planning or related discipline.

  • Extensive statutory planning experience, with a strong understanding of Local Government and planning issues at both State and Local levels.

  • Demonstrated experience managing and developing high-performing teams.

  • Advanced understanding of Victorian planning legislation, planning scheme amendments, and development assessment processes.

  • Strong written and verbal communication, negotiation, facilitation and conflict resolution abilities.

  • Proven ability to deliver results within set timeframes while balancing competing priorities.

If you progress past the interview stage, you may be required to complete pre-employment screening, which may include police checks, a medical, qualification verification, and an Australian work rights check.
