About the role

Join Wyndham’s City Operations Directorate to lead open space policy, including the implementation and update of Wyndham’s Open Space Strategy.

 

You will work alongside a community focused team to develop and implement Open Space policies, strategies and plans, and provide open space planning and urban design advice, to achieve integrated planning and design outcomes which result in consistent, high-quality design and functional open space outcomes across the City.

 

What your day will look like

·         Provide specialist strategic open space planning and urban design advice on planning permit applications, precinct structure plans, development contribution plans, structure plans, urban design frameworks, master plans, activity centre plans and other planning and development proposals

·         Develop strategies, policies and plans to guide the planning, development, and management of the City’s open space network

·         Engage with the Wyndham Community on open space planning issues, requests, and for strategy and policy development

·         Provide specialist open space planning and urban design advice into projects and initiatives across Council, including externally led projects, to ensure integrated planning and design outcomes are achieved

·         Prepare reports, submissions, briefing papers, and project update reports for senior management, executive and Council



What you will bring

·         Tertiary qualifications in Open Space Planning, Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, Recreation Planning, Town Planning, Strategic Planning or a related field

·         Extensive, practical experience in open space planning resulting in a sound knowledge of standards of open space provision within Local Government, particularly in growth areas

·         A comprehensive knowledge of research, planning methods and urban planning schemes and principles

·         Extensive, practical experience in policy and report writing

·         Well-developed communication and collaboration skills

·         Highly developed analytical, conceptual, dispute resolution and negotiation skills and abilities

·         Extensive experience in community consultation and working with community groups in the delivery of projects which meet community and Council expectations

·         Well-developed time management and organisational skills
