Independent Member of Audit and Risk Committee, Wyndham City Council

A vacancy exists for an independent member of the Audit and Risk Committee of Wyndham City Council. 

The appointment will commence in September 2025 for an initial term of 3 years ending September 2028 with a Council option for a second three-year term.  Remuneration is set annually in line with Wyndham policies. 

The Audit and Risk Committee meets quarterly, with the expectation that members make every endeavour to attend in person each meeting, as well as engage on any matters that may need to be considered out of session. Teleconference or Videoconference facilities can be made available where appropriate.

Context:
Wyndham City Council has an established Audit and Risk Committee as part of its governance framework, in accordance with the Local Government Act 2020.
The Audit and Risk Committee is appointed by Council and comprises seven members including, an Independent Chair, three Independent Members and three Councillor Members.

The Audit and Risk Committee is an advisory committee that plays a key role in independently reviewing and monitoring the following (but not limited to) under its Charter.

  • systems and controls for financial management
  • business performance, sustainability and business continuity
  • strategic risks and organisational risk culture
  • compliance with laws, regulations and internal controls
  • Internal and External Audits
  • Governance and Integrity

Key Selection Criteria:

To be considered for this role you will have a strong understanding of  public sector management, corporate governance, financial management, audit & assurance, risk management, compliance management, fraud & corruption control, information technology & cyber security

Specific expertise in any areas of information technology and cybersecurity, financial management, audit, public sector management, Graduate Membership of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and previous experience serving on similar committees or boards will be highly regarded.
