Remuneration: Band 7 salary from $112,427.64 per annum plus superannuation and a fortnightly RDO.
Location: Werribee based with potential for hybrid work arrangement.



About the Role
Wyndham City Council is seeking a positive and dynamic Team Leader who is capable of maintaining the necessary systems for efficient and effective Contract and Procurement Support. This includes supporting system implementation integration and improvements and analysis of data integrity management.

This role will be focusing on managing a team delivering a high-quality centralised function focused on supporting strategic procurement planning for the organisation. The role liaises extensively with internal stakeholders identifying opportunities to optimise procurement processes, enhance efficiencies, and drive innovation and achieve cost savings - without compromising quality or service delivery.

You must also be able promote and maintain toolsets and templates to collect and report on procurement commercial data as required for organisational reporting need. Preparing reports/dashboards on general trends and develop solutions to identified procurement and contract management issues.

What your day may look like

  • In the morning, you lead a few meetings with internal stakeholders to discuss future procurement activities and capture relevant information for Council’s Sourcing Plan. After that, you develop a dashboard report for a Business Unit manager and send out meeting minutes and action plan.
  • In the afternoon, you participate in a procurement leadership team meeting, sharing insights and lessons learnt from your recent projects with the Project Management Team.
  • Throughout the day, you manage incoming emails and respond to enquiries from colleagues across the organisation. In addition, you support your team members with escalated enquiries and general operations
    Late in the day, you wrap up by finalising key documents, such as a planning update to your line manager and a savings and benefits report.

 

What you will bring

  • Proficiency in the application of a theoretical or scientific discipline in the search for solutions to new problems and identify opportunities for operational improvements.
  • Proficiency and extensive understanding of contract management, procurement and finance systems, whether standalone, integrated or as part of modules of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a ‘can-do’ attitude where you understand your customers’ needs and procurement requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a high-performing small team .
  • An understanding of the long-term goals of the wider organisation and of its values and aspirations and of the legal and political context in which it operates.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and the ability to apply computer literacy skills to a range of new/different software programs in the performance of duties.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with the principles and practices of budgeting and relevant accounting and financial procedures
  • Demonstrated skills in setting priorities, planning and organising your own and other employees work to achieve specific and set objectives in the most efficient way despite conflicting pressures.
  • An understanding and an ability to implement personnel policies and practices including awards, equal opportunity and occupational health and safety policies, recruitment and selection procedures and techniques, position descriptions and employee’s development schemes. They would be also expected to contribute to the development and implementation of long-term staffing strategies.
