About the role
The Personal Assistant to Manager Transport & Sustainability role sits within the Transport & Sustainabilty Department at Wyndham City Council and reports to the Department Manager. The Department has 35 staff across four units which include Transport Planning, Traffic Engineering, Climate & Resilience and Smart Cities. The Department belongs to the Planning and Liveability Directorate.
Noting the diverse range of specialist areas that the Department covers, everyday can be different. Some work will follow a pre planned schedule while other work will be more reactive and dynamic. Noting this, the role plays a key role in tracking deliverables such as Executive and Councillor reports, responses to Councillor requests and any urgent or political matters that come to the Department Manager for attention and action.
Keeping the Department intranet page content up to date via twice yearly updates, taking the lead to develop agendas for regular department meetings and developing monthly traffic management reports for Councillors are also key deliverables.

What your day will look like:

  • Start most days with a short ‘check-in’ meeting (usually via MS Teams) with the Department leadership team to flag urgent items, identify areas needing team support, and plan for upcoming meetings and forums.
  • Work in a hybrid environment, spending at least two days per week in the office.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues to stay connected and support each other in delivering excellent outcomes for the Wyndham community.
  • Engage with a wide range of specialist areas within the department, offering the opportunity to broaden your understanding and experience.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork.

What you’ll bring:

  • A natural flair for collaboration and teamwork, with a focus on delivering results.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Previous experience in office administration or a similar support role.
  • A flexible and proactive approach, with an interest in learning more about the department’s diverse focus areas.
