A bit about the role
As a Business and Industry Development Officer within the Economic Development Unit at Wyndham City Council, you will plan, facilitate, promote and implement a range of business and industry development initiatives which respond to the needs of Wyndham’s business community and the regional economy.
You will proactively engage with businesses, including start-ups, to support the sustainability and growth of Wyndham’s business community.
What you’ll do
- Develop and maintain appropriate and positive liaison with relevant peak bodies, state and federal government agencies and regional councils
- Identify training needs and facilitate the delivery of business training programs, forums and funding opportunities
- Prepare and distribute key business communications, marketing publications and market / manage online channels
- Participate in the ongoing development of relevant work plans and strategies
- Represent Council at relevant forums, committees and working groups
- Provide timely advice and prepare reports to Council as required
What you’ll bring
- Degree or diploma in a business-related discipline (Desirable)
- Relevant experience in an economic development or business development role
- Demonstrated experience in facilitating business and industry development initiatives for small and medium enterprises
- Strong customer service, written and verbal communication, project and relationship management skills
- Demonstrated capacity to interpret economic data and apply innovative solutions to business and industry development challenges
- Current Victorian driver’s licence
- A continuous improvement mindset with a positive, proactive, and flexible attitude
