Location: Werribee based with potential for a hybrid work arrangement. This role may be required to work across multiple locations throughout the Wyndham Municipality
About the role
This innovative position of Senior Nurse Educator will be responsible for driving clinical excellence and providing educational support to develop knowledge and skills for Maternal and Child Health (MCH) nursing students and new graduates. This role will give you the opportunity to support the development of employment pathways for prospective MCH Nurses. The Senior Nurse Educator will provide a comprehensive work ready program for students undergoing clinical placements to support the transition of midwives into the sector.
Working closely with the Universal MCH Service Lead you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to support nursing students and graduates to achieve their optimum potential.

What your day will look like
- Provide leadership, clinical guidance and preceptorship of students.
- Identify and promote opportunities for service improvement with a future-focused approach.
- Build and maintain partnerships with universities to position Council as an employer of choice.
- Evaluate requests for the unit’s participation in research activities and provide education programs.
- Support students and graduates to ensure compliance with nursing and midwifery codes of ethics, practice standards, and legislative requirements.
What you will bring
Mandatory Qualifications to practice as a MCH Nurse in Victoria, as outlined in the Position Description –
Current registration with AHPRA:
- Registered Nurse (Division 1)
- Registered Midwife, and;
In addition to the above registrations -
- Accredited postgraduate Diploma/Degree (or equivalent) in Child and Family Health Nursing.
- Possession of a recognised education qualification e.g. Certificate IV in Assessment and training or working towards same
- Demonstrated experience leading a team of staff.
- Experience working in MCH nursing for a minimum of three years.
- Exceptional organisation, time management and reporting understanding, to ensure we successfully meet our service standards.
- Demonstrated experience in providing education programs and preceptorship of students.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining partnerships with key stakeholders.
- A collaborative approach to service delivery to better meet the needs of our families.
- A current Victorian Working with Children’s check.
