Location: Predominantly based at Civic Centre in Werribee with potential for a hybrid work arrangement 

About the role

Leading the Inclusive Employment function across the Social and Economic Inclusion (SEI) Unit at Council, the primary objective of the Team Leader Inclusive Employment is to promote and support Inclusive Employment practices with and for local employers and the community in Wyndham.



Working with the Coordinator SEI, this position sits within the SEI Leadership Team and supports the Opportunity Wyndham partnership in delivery of its objectives, including development of resources, evaluation of outcomes and delivery of engagement with partners, employers and community.

Working with an array of internal and external partners, our ideal candidate will bring extensive stakeholder management experience, a sound knowledge of the employment services sector, extensive knowledge and experience in diversity, equity and inclusion practice and substantial experience in developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating large projects/programs in the local government context.



What your day will look like

  • Leadership of the Inclusive Employment function in SEI.
  • Oversight and guidance on range of place-based community programs run by partners.
  • Delivery of the Inclusive Employment Service, including the delivery of toolkit workshops, employer events and design and delivery of Inclusive Employment resources, materials and tools.
  • Data collection, evaluation and reporting for Inclusive Employment, including the Opportunity Wyndham partnership.
  • Engaging with Opportunity Wyndham partners around the delivery of strategic and operational initiatives for the partnership.
  • Collaboration and engagement within the SEI unit and wider organisation to strengthen the Inclusive Employment proposition and deliver collective impact.
  • Corporate and partner reporting for the Inclusive Employment Function, including making findings and recommendations about future direction of this unit.

What you will bring

  • Degree or diploma course Community Development, Social Sciences or other relevant discipline with several years of subsequent relevant experience or lesser formal qualifications with extensive relevant experience.
  • Strong background in managing large-scale projects or programs, ideally within community services or government.
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment of place-based approaches and community engagement principles and practices.
  • Ability to foster a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative team culture focused on shared goals.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences effectively across different cultural and social contexts.
  • Sound knowledge and experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion practice.
  • Sound knowledge of the employment services sector.
  • An employee Working with Children Check.
