A bit about the role

This position is a key in the identification and control of health risks across a broad region, to meet regulations and legislation.

You will work with the Environmental Health Unit Team in ongoing environmental inspections, management, recommendations, programs and education required by Council to meet compliance, and provide quality living, working and wellbeing standards throughout Wyndham City.  

 

 

 

What you’ll deliver

  • Active inspection of premises throughout the Wyndham region, and identifying issues (current and potential) that may contribute to environment health risks
  • Inspect outbreaks and health matters that may affect municipal health, and respond to complaints from a diverse range of stakeholders  
  • Deliver proposals to manage potential environmental/ public health risks and compliance with regulations
  • Provide expertise and trusted advice, making recommendations for control measures, risk mitigation, and the compliance of health standards
  • Oversee construction and maintenance of premises (including food; industrial, beauty) ensuring standards are met

 

What you’ll bring

  • A Degree qualification in Applied Science (Environmental Health) or equivalent qualification as declared by the Secretary of the Department of Health.
  • Eligible to be member of Environmental Health Professionals Australia
  • Experience delivering environmental health services inspections and legislative requirements throughout a diverse growth region
  • Systems skills with experience in specific Environmental Health Services software
  • A strong independent management approach with an ability to collaborate and contribute to team, and enforce decisions delivered in the community
  • Advanced communication skills enabling written reports and professional liaison with others
  • Sound knowledge and practicality of the required Government Acts pertaining to the delivery of Environmental Health services
