Our team manages Council’s Financial reporting processes, taxation and the budgeting and forecasting processes.

What your day will look like
- Completion of financial reconciliations including all bank accounts in a timely and accurate manner.
- All General ledger reconciliation
- Prepare and process journals for areas of responsibilities.
- Reconciliation and completion of daily banking updates, agency updates and fortnightly payroll transfers ensuring that all data is transferred into the Proclaim and/or Finance One ledgers.
- Communicate effectively with other business areas as required
- Process dishonoured cheques and liaise with debtor in order to obtain replacement funds.
- Assist customers in providing information and advice including account queries.
- Provide daily figures of banking information for cash management per required format.
- Coordinate all journals from all modules to opened and posted in correct period.
- To provide over the phone help to cashiers. Finance’s reference point when users experience issues with Proclaim receipting and call for assistance.
- Cashiers training.
- Organising and managing user (Cashiers) group meetings.
- Continuous improvement in cashiering practices, including the communication of improvements found to all cashiering points to ensure a consistent approach across Council.
- Key role System User Acceptance Testing.
- To provide support for other team members as required in all areas of Transactional Services
What you will bring
- The ability to interpret and apply legislation, Acts, and accounting standards relevant to the role.
- Strong skills in reconciling financial transactions.
- A solid understanding of accounting principles and procedures, with experience in General Ledger, Accounts Payable/Receivable, Cashiering, Debt Collections, and Auditing.
- Proficiency in using computerized financial systems, Microsoft Office, and large database systems.
- A tertiary qualification in Commerce or Accounting (or equivalent experience).
- A commitment to pursuing membership with the Australian Institute of Chartered Accountants or the Australian Society of Certified Practicing Accountants.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with clients and Council
- Ability to prepare clear and concise reports and training content to ensure consistent cashiering practices aligned with acceptable accounting principles.
