Remuneration: Band 6 salary from $104,133.36 per annum plus superannuation and a fortnightly RDO
Location: Werribee based with potential for a hybrid work arrangement
About the role
As a member of the Technology Operations team within the Information and Technology Services Department, the Training and Communications Officer plays a pivotal role in supporting staff across Council to confidently adopt and utilise technology systems, applications, and hardware.
Reporting to the Coordinator Technology Operations, this role is responsible for designing and delivering targeted training programs and developing clear and accessible communications to support organisational technology change.
You will work closely with internal stakeholders, delivery teams, and vendors to create engaging training content, provide onboarding support, and ensure the quality and currency of learning materials.
The Information and Technology Services Department is part of the Corporate Services Directorate and is central to enabling the Council’s strategic objectives through innovative and reliable technology solutions. The team values collaboration, continuous improvement, and inclusive practices.
What your day will look like
· Designing and facilitating IT training sessions for individuals and groups
· Developing user-friendly training materials and quick reference guides
· Planning and delivering staff onboarding for key systems and applications
· Managing internal training communication plans and roadmap for technology initiatives, changes and projects
· Updating and maintaining the IT Department’s intranet content
· Collaborating with internal teams and external vendors to coordinate training delivery
· Monitoring and reviewing training effectiveness and incorporating feedback
· Supporting staff through system changes with clear guidance and engagement
· Delivering in-person and remote training content
What you will bring
· A relevant tertiary qualification or industry certification, or significant experience in IT training and communication roles
· At least two years of experience in delivering IT training and support, ideally in a government or complex organisational environment
· Proven ability to develop and review training programs, including eLearning content
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach
· Experience with Litmos or similar eLearning tools (desirable)
· Excellent time management, problem-solving, and analytical skills
· Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
· A commitment to continuous learning, improvement, and inclusive practice
