Location:  Werribee based with potential for a hybrid work arrangement

About the role
Join our team as Team Leader Landscape Architect, reporting to the Coordinator Landscape Subdivisions in the Planning Building and Heath department. In this position you'll take charge of:

  • Leading and mentoring a small team of dedicated staff
  • Managing the landscape plan approvals process with efficiency and a customer-centric approach, landscape planning referrals
  • Coordinate pre and post-permit processes, ensuring design outcomes align with public realm standards
  • Collaborating with developers, consultants, and internal stakeholders
  • Negotiate effectively to achieve optimal open space results.


Your role involves close liaison with various council units, facilitating seamless integration of landscape plans with growth area developments. If you're passionate about enhancing public spaces and adept at fostering collaboration, apply now.

What your day will look like

  • Managing and delegating work
  • Overseeing approval of landscape plans
  • Reviewing planning permits
  • Issuing Certification and Statement of Compliance in accordance with the planning permit and the Subdivision Act 1988
  • Collaboration with external and internal parties

 

What you will bring

  • Qualification in Landscape Architecture 
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles and practice of design as it relates to public open space, community, environmental, social and economic development
  • Detailed understanding and proven experience dealing with growth area planning issues
  • Experience in leading busy and high functioning teams
  • Demonstrated analytical and investigative skills in providing input into formulation of policies
  • Possess an understanding and knowledge of Local, State and Federal policies and inter-relationships regarding urban design and open space planning
