About the role
You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that procurement activities align with the Council’s objectives while developing processes and systems to enable quality, consistent and timely resolutions to enquiries and requests from both internal and external customers in line with Wyndham City Council’s customer experience approach. 
This role plays a critical part in supporting the procurement team to gain a greater understanding of customer service processes and standards and improve the consistency of delivery against these standards.
Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders at Wyndham will be essential for the success of this role. What your day will look like

  • Work with Procurement Coordinator and Procurement Manager to ensure support with ongoing Sourcing and Contract Management activities.
  • Work with Category Manager Partners and Stakeholders to address any process, workflow and/or any other procurement requirements.
  • In consultation with the Category Management and the Procurement Governance teams, devise and implement training solutions to ensure the procurement customer service skills are developed and maintained.
  • Develop and maintain organisational relationships to build a collaborative and informed approach to responding to procurement customer enquiries and requests, ensuring a timely exchange of information between teams and stakeholders, keeping the applicable parties informed as to the outcome or progress.
  • Coordinate responses within procurement and from other Departments to complex customer enquiries (that are not probity related) where a single point of contact is required.
  • Apply continuous feedback, learning and improvement loop to reviewing and developing procurement customer service processes, systems and outcomes
  • Provide support for the delivery of customer service outcomes for the procurement team, in a range of customer facing tasks, responsibilities and service enquiries or requests.

What you will bring

  • Degree or diploma course in Business or Administration, or other relevant field with some relevant experience. They might also be acquired through lesser formal qualifications and substantial relevant experience, or through substantial relevant experience in the field of specialist expertise.
  • An understanding of the relevant technology, procedures and processes used within procurement.
  • Demonstrated experience in a procurement team with a focus on customer service, and the implementation of customer services initiatives that improved outcomes
  • Experience leading change to customer services methods, processes and approaches
  • Experience and understanding of customer focused evaluation practices
  • Experience working in local government or other levels of government is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a ‘can-do’ attitude where you understand your customers’ needs and procurement requirements 
  • Well-developed problem-solving/analytical skills.
    Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite/Power BI and the ability to apply computer literacy skills to a range of new/different software programs in the performance of duties.
  • Demonstrated initiative and a drive for continuous improvement.
