A bit about the role

Our Maternal and Child Health nurses thrive in an environment where no two days are the same. Working with a diverse population from a range of backgrounds is one of the reasons our nurses are so passionate about the work that they do with families, where they can really see the difference that they are making for children and their families.

You will be part of a large multidisciplinary team of MCH nurses, immunisation nurses, child and family resource officers, lactation consultants, a social worker and a family violence officer, well supported by a large leadership team.

Applying your clinical skills and experience in a community focused environment, with support from your Team Leader to escalate issues and access opportunities for professional development and further training.

Being a part of one of the largest Councils in Victoria, the team is well resourced with internal referral options for further support for families, appropriate equipment, and quality facilities.

We have two temporary opportunities to join our team:

  • Full time temporary position; commencing 20 January 2025 until 7 January 2026, parental leave backfill
  • Part time temporary position; commencing 3 February 2025 until 29 September 2025, 22.8 hours per week

What you will deliver

  • Delivery of a high-quality MCH nursing service and support to families Commitment to continuous learning and working as a multidisciplinary team
  • Contribution to referrals and reporting in accordance with legislative requirements
  • A family centred partnership approach

What you will bring

Mandatory Qualifications to practice as a MCH Nurse in Victoria, as outlined in the Position Description:

  • Current registration with AHPRA:
  • Registered Nurse (Division 1)
  • Registered Midwife, and;

In addition to the above registrations, accredited postgraduate Diploma/Degree (or equivalent) in Child and Family Health Nursing.

  • Demonstrated experience working with CALD communities or a genuine curiosity and willingness to learn
  • Current valid driver’s licence and employee Working with Children check
  • Confidence and competency in using computer systems including M&CH programs
  • A positive, curious and flexible attitude
