About the role

Join our Asset Management Business Unit as an Asset Investment & Planning Officer and lead the strategic planning and prioritisation of asset investment initiatives, ensuring alignment with organisational goals, community expectations, and long-term financial sustainability.

You will use your communication skills to actively engage and collaborate with relevant planning and service delivery teams to ensure the integrated delivery of capital works programs, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities as well as acting as the primary point of contact for finance-related asset management activities, including cost metric calculations, budget alignment, and support for the Long-Term Financial Plan (LTFP).


What your day will look like

  • Developing and maintaining comprehensive lifecycle models (LCM) for all asset types, supporting strategic decision-making across creation, maintenance, renewal, and disposal
  • Undertaking spatial and demographic demand modelling to anticipate infrastructure needs based on growth forecasts and land use changes
  • Overseeing the revaluation and evaluation of assets, ensuring accuracy and alignment with financial and regulatory requirements
  • Developing preventive maintenance regimes and OPEX forecasting to complement capital planning



What you will bring

  • Degree in a relevant field such as Asset Management, Engineering, Finance, Business, or a related discipline, OR substantial equivalent experience in a similar role. (essential)
  • Proven experience in asset lifecycle planning, including the development and application of lifecycle models to support decision-making for asset creation, maintenance, renewal, and disposal. (essential)
  • Demonstrated experience in financial planning, budgeting, and cost analysis, including the development and application of cost metrics, asset unit rates, and support for Long-Term Financial Plans (LTFP). (essential)
  • Experience in asset revaluation, evaluation, and financial reporting, ensuring compliance with regulatory and audit requirements (e.g., VAGO). (essential)
  • Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of government operations, regulatory frameworks, and industry standards, particularly as they relate to asset planning, capital works, and financial governance. (essential)
  • Experience in analysing and interpreting complex datasets to inform asset investment decisions and support evidence-based planning. (essential)
  • Proven ability to engage and collaborate with key stakeholders, including internal departments and external stakeholders (auditors, regulators, and government agencies). (essential)
  • Proficiency in asset management software and tools for financial analysis, data reporting, and asset valuation. (essential)
  • Supporting internal and external audits, including responding to audit requests from bodies such as the Victorian Auditor-General's Office (VAGO). (essential)
  • A current Victorian Driver’s Licence (essential)
